The best restaurants in Montmartre in Paris

A list of our favorite spots for lunch and dinner around the famous Parisian hill

It is not only to see the Sacre Coeur that you should visit Montmartre. Contrary to what many think, Montmartre is not just a place full of tourist traps. In addition to the beauty of its small cobblestone streets, its mill and its vineyard, this charming neighborhood is becoming more and more an important gastronomic center in Paris.

Here’s a list of our favorite restaurants around the hill:

La boîte aux lettres

This is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Montmartre. Every day the owners welcome us warmly in this charming little restaurant nestled at the top of Rue Lepic. Everything here is homemade. The dishes are tasty very beautiful. The chicken supreme is a treat and the speculoos tiramisu is to die for. And if this was not enough there are jazz concerts on Sunday nights.

La boîte aux lettres – 108 rue Lepic, 75018 París

Le Jardin d’en face

In this small restaurant on the green façade of the bustling Rue des Trois Frères, getting a place is almost a miracle. Without reservation, it is difficult (or should I say impossible) to sit down. When we see the menu, we understand better why. This classic French gastronomic bistro offers an excellent parmentier of duck confit, a tartiflette with smoked duck breast and the house’s special: the eggs with foie gras.

Le Jardin d’en face – 29 rue des Trois Frères
Open from Monday to Sunday from 19:30 to midnight

Aux Trois Petits Cochons

This traditional restaurant offers 6 or 7 choices of starters, dishes and desserts every day that are renewed almost daily depending on the seasonal products. The small room is often crowded. The sublime decoration made of stones brings a true touch of charm. We are in a true traditional French restaurant. We can only advise you to book before you go.

Aux Trois Petits Cochons – 28 rue la Vieuville
Open daily from 6.30 pm to 11.30 pm.

L’Anvers du décor

This restaurant at the foot of the Sacré Coeur has a small and refined lounge and a very cozy atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle. Here, the local cuisine is highlighted, only homemade dishes prepared with fresh products are served. The service is non-stop and the restaurant remains open throughout the day, which is a rare thing in Paris.

L’Anvers du décor – 32 bis rue d’Onsel
Open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Guilo Guilo

There is not only French cuisine in Montmartre. This Japanese gastronomic restaurant is a real success. The flavors are original, the decor is elegant and the kitchen runs proudly in the middle of the bar. What a pleasure to see chef Eiichi Edakuni dancing with his knives and chopsticks.
Please note it is necessary to book at least 2 weeks in advance to have a table.

Guilo Guilo – Street 8 Garreau
Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 19h00 to 00:30.

La vache et le cuisinier

Open since 2011, this family restaurant has a style between traditional and contemporary cuisine. Here, friendliness is the key word. In the kitchen, the chef only works with seasonal products. The menu is creative and generous. The poached egg with wild mushrooms left us with an extraordinary souvenir.

La vache et le cuisinier – 18 rue des 3 frères
Open every day from 7:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
