The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025: Full List, Global Highlights, and Culinary Surprises

The 2025 edition of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants was revealed this week in a ceremony held in Turin, Italy, and the top honor went to Maido in Lima, Peru. Led by chef Mitsuharu Tsumura, the restaurant earned the #1 spot by masterfully blending Japanese and Peruvian traditions into a modern and innovative dining experience.

Asador Etxebarri, in Spain’s Basque region, held on to second place, while Quintonil, in Mexico City, came in third. Rounding out the top five were DiverXO (Madrid) and Alchemist (Copenhagen).

This year’s list continued to celebrate restaurants that step outside the bounds of traditional European fine dining, embracing local ingredients, experimental techniques, and bold creativity.

From Brazil, Lasai in Rio de Janeiro secured 28th place, proudly representing Brazilian cuisine. France also stood out with Plénitude (#14), Table by Bruno Verjus (#8), Septime (#40), and L’Arpège (#45).

In the U.S., Atomix in New York was the top-ranked restaurant at #12. Despite ongoing debates about the voting process, the list remains a major benchmark for global culinary tourism.
