WE ARE GOING HERE
did you know ?
It was the Romans who contributed most to the widespread implementation of apple cultivation in France and much of Europe. In the conquered lands, they planted about thirty different varieties of apples. Ten centuries later, about twenty other types were listed by the famous agronomist Olivier de Serres. These apples evolved over the centuries, categorized by their taste, strength, yield. They were widely studied, crossed and perfected. Even so, the more fragile varieties have not disappeared and remain cultivated and consumed locally. Their great capacity for climatic adaptation, and therefore the fact that they can be produced all year round, makes apples the fruit that is most consumed by the French.
